How to make an invoice
- 1Enter your business details and your client's details.
- 2Add a line item for each piece of work, with quantity and rate.
- 3Set the tax rate and any notes or payment terms.
- 4Press Download and the invoice saves as a PDF.
What goes on an invoice
A usable invoice needs a unique invoice number, the date it was issued and the date payment is due, your business name and address, your client's name and address, a line for each item with quantity and rate, the subtotal, any tax, and the total due. Add how you want to be paid. If you are registered for VAT or sales tax, your tax number belongs on it too.
Numbering and records
Keep invoice numbers sequential and never reuse one. Most tax authorities expect a gapless series and a copy of every invoice you issue, usually for six to ten years depending on where you are. Because this tool keeps nothing, save the PDF somewhere you back up.

Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. No account, no watermark, no limit on how many invoices you make, and no upload.
Does it add a watermark or branding?
No. The PDF carries your details and nothing of ours.
Where is my data stored?
Nowhere. The form lives in your browser tab and the PDF is built there too. Close the tab and it is gone, so download before you leave.
Can I add my logo?
You can set your business name and an accent colour. Logo upload is on the API, where you pass a logo URL into the invoice template.
Can I use it for VAT invoices?
Yes. Set the tax rate and put your VAT number in the business details. Check your own country's required wording before sending.
Can I generate invoices automatically from my own app?
Yes. The same invoice template is available through the API: post JSON, get a PDF back. New accounts get 10 free credits.
