Questions about the free tools

Are these PDF tools really free?

Yes. Everything that runs in your browser is free with no account and no cap. PDF to Excel gives you one free document without an account, because reading tables costs us money on every run.

Do I have to upload my files?

For everything except PDF to Excel, no. Merging, splitting, image conversion, the generators and the base64 decoder all run as JavaScript in your own browser, so your documents never leave the device.

Do I need to create an account?

Not for any of the browser tools. An account only comes in if you want more than one PDF to Excel conversion, or an API key.

Is there a file size limit?

The browser tools have no limit beyond your own memory, because nothing is transferred. PDF to Excel takes files up to 12MB.

Do the tools add a watermark?

No. Nothing we produce carries our branding.

Can I use these tools commercially?

Yes. Invoices, receipts and contracts made here are yours to use in your business.

Is there an API behind these tools?

Yes. html4pdf is a PDF generation API: send HTML, a URL or a JSON template and get a PDF back in the same request, with nothing stored. The free tools are the same engine with a form in front of it.

Need this inside your own app?

The same engine is available as an API: HTML, a URL or a JSON template in, a PDF back, nothing stored. New accounts get 10 free credits.
